Why You Need Adventure
Paragliding adventures in the Pyrenees

Has the post-Christmas return to work left you bewildered and drained? Do you have an insane calling to be somewhere you are not? Maybe it’s not so insane after all. Your body is telling you you need to plan an adventure.

We’ve done a quick poll here in the Adventure Creators’ office and these are the reasons we believe adventures have such an important role to play in the world today.

Why we need adventure

Escape through adventures

People’s lives these days are stressful, busy, noisy affairs with little change to the daily routine . It’s hard to find peace and balance amongst the myriad demands that are made on your time and energy.

Finding an outlet for this stress and frustration is essential not only for your long term health but also for the well being of those around you.

By channelling your thoughts and energy into planning an outdoor adventure, you can redress life’s balance and recharge those waning batteries. Having something to look forward to is sometimes all the mental lift you need to cope with the demands of a busy life.

Adventure to create memorable experiences

Don’t collect stuff to show off. Choose instead adventures about which stories can be told. Spend that hard-earned vacation time on experiences that you can store in your memory bank, ready to pull out and dust off next time the daily grind starts getting you down. Spend that hard-earned money on travelling to somewhere you may never have been to before instead of buying the latest widescreen TV or other gadgets.

Create memories on a snowshoeing adventure

Memories of adventures enjoyed have a way of imprinting themselves on your soul and have a habit of resurfacing just when you need them most. Like when you’re sitting at your desk in that sterile office. You’ll suddenly remember the time you reached that Pyrenean col and were greeted by the sight of the mountains in all their grandeur stretching out before you as far as the eye can see. You can’t help but smile.

Adventures to push your limits

How do you know what you’re capable of unless you push beyond what you think you can do? Confronting your weaknesses, your doubts and your fears may be pretty uncomfortable at the time, but overcoming them is a moment of exhilaration and immense satisfaction. That feeling of empowerment when suddenly anything seems possible is an addictive feeling.

Challenging yourself on a high ropes adventure

Challenging yourself on an outdoors adventure is the best way to learn about yourself. You discover that you are indeed bigger than your fears and that by pushing outside of your comfort zone you grow in the process.

Choose a winter mountaineering adventure and be gently encouraged by an experienced mountain guide to cross that narrow, snowy ridge with the steep drop off to either side. Push fear to one side, concentrate on the here and now and take those steps beyond your preconceived expectations.

Conquering fears on a winter adventure

At the end of the day wouldn’t you rather look back at your life and think ‘I can’t believe I did that’ rather than ‘If only I had’. Don’t call your desire for adventure a dream. Call it a plan. The Adventure Creators do just what it says on the tin, so drop us a line and let us help put the adventure back in your life.
